My Brave Steps

My Itty Bitty Cowardly Lion Mascot/Companion from Hallmark

Early this year I chose legendary to be my word for 2014. I chose this word to inspire action towards unanswered dreams and a life I love. It sparked energy and happiness in me as I celebrated my 40th birthday in March, but then this energy was abruptly interrupted with the unexpected death of my dad in April. In response to the pain of this loss, I retreated from my life. For me, it was a necessary part of the grieving process but I couldn't retreat (aka protect myself from more heartache) forever. 

Life is to be lived. If I've learned anything, you never know if you'll get tomorrow. So I'm working my way back into living life and taking action. Action (aka change) can be scary for me, so I'm breaking it down into small, less scary steps. Because the small stuff will add up to following my heart and living my life. So together with my adorable companion/mascot, I will take steps (no matter how small) towards a life I love.

• Subitting artwork for consideration in the 30x30 art exhibit at Blue Line Art Gallery
• Running the Nike Women's Half Marathon in SF (my 3rd Nike half marathon)
